1. Information We Collect
We collect the following when you use the app:
- Face Data: When you take a photo or select an existing one within the app to compare your face to celebrity faces, we collect that photo as an image file. This is the only personal data we collect from you.
- Usage Data: We collect anonymized data about app interactions (e.g., crashes, events) via Mixpanel to improve performance.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data as follows:
- Face Data Usage: Your photo is compared to a collection of celebrity faces stored in AWS Rekognition. The AWS Rekognition API analyzes facial features (e.g., position of eyes, nose, mouth) and returns similarity scores, displayed as a match result. Results are stored locally on your device only. We do not use your photo for any other purpose.
- Challenge Mode Usage: If you participate in a Challenge (a multiplayer feature where friends compare their resemblance to a selected celebrity), your photo is stored on our servers to enable score comparison between participants for the duration of the challenge.
- Usage Data Usage: Anonymized crash and event data helps us fix bugs and enhance the app.
3. Disclosure of Your Information
We share your data only as necessary:
- With AWS: For Party Mode and Category Mode, your photo is sent to Amazon Web Services (AWS) for processing and temporary storage. It is stored in AWS S3 and analyzed by the AWS Rekognition API. The celebrity face collection is maintained in AWS Rekognition, but your photo is not added to it.
- With Supabase: For Challenge Mode, your photo is sent to Supabase (a cloud database provider) for storage. This enables multiple participants to compare their scores within a shared challenge.
- With Mixpanel: Anonymized usage data (e.g., crashes, events) is shared with Mixpanel for analytics.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights.
No other third parties receive your data.
4. Data Storage and Retention
Your data is handled differently depending on how you use the app:
- Party Mode & Category Mode:Your photo is stored in AWS S3 servers located in US-East-1 for up to 60 minutes after upload, then automatically deleted via an S3 lifecycle rule. The AWS Rekognition API does not retain your photo or derived data after processing.
- Challenge Mode:Your photo is stored in Supabase cloud storage for up to 30 days to enable the challenge feature, where multiple participants can view and compare results. After 30 days, your photo is automatically deleted. You may request early deletion by contacting us.
- Local Data: Comparison results are saved locally on your device only.
- Usage Data: Anonymized Mixpanel data is retained only as needed to improve the app, per Mixpanel's policies.
5. Security
We use industry-standard encryption to protect your photo during transfer to AWS and Supabase. Usage data sent to Mixpanel is anonymized. Data on your device is managed by its security settings. No system is fully secure, but we strive to safeguard your information.
6. Your Rights
Party Mode & Category Mode: Your photo is automatically deleted after 60 minutes.
Challenge Mode: Your photo is automatically deleted after 30 days. You may request earlier deletion by contacting us at the email below.
